When Walid, a Druze, left his village he was a new believer with a passion for winning people to the Lord. As he worked his construction job among Shiites, his life was a witness. One young man asked him what religion his family followed, and he said, "They are Druze."
"Oh," said the young man, "then I will become Druze too. You have such peace." Walid quickly told him that it is Jesus who gives him peace in his life and explained how this peace was available to all who ask.
Every evening, when people asked him what his plans were, he told them, "I'm going hunting." He had no gun, so they wondered, "How can you hunt without a rifle?" Walid smiled, "I'm hunting for souls. I'm hunting for the people who want to hear about Jesus."
When Walid and a pastor friend returned to his village, his family also noticed the peace in him, and his brother asked what had happened. As Walid and the pastor told the story of Jesus and explained that His salvation was available to all, the brother interrupted them.
"This is important," he said. "Let's tell our mother. And let me get my wife." So the circle increased, and the story began again. And again it was interrupted. Walid's sister-in-law wanted her teen-aged daughter to hear. And then the daughter phoned her boyfriend so that he could hear the Good News.
Now, more than twenty people in this small village are meeting together regularly to study the Bible, and discover for themselves the peace and joy that only Jesus can bring.
Cry Out to the Lord for:
- Much fruit from Walid's witness among the Shiites
- The Bible study in his parent's home. Although his father welcomes the study in his home, he is not yet a believer. Cry Out for his salvation.
- The continuing expansion of the circle of believers in Walid's village
