Don't grow weary or discouraged praying and fasting for Muslims this Ramadan! Millions of them are earnestly seeking to know and honor God this month, and your prayer is like a sweet fragrance to God on their behalf right now.
Looking down at his watch, Ali rushes to get home before the cannon boom signals it is time to eat and drink again. Because it is Ramadan, Ali has not eaten or drank anything since sunrise this morning. Thirsty and hungry, exhausted from the heat of the day, Ali weaves his taxi through traffic, refusing all passengers. He must get home to his family so they can break the fast together at sundown.
Sisters Noor and Bushra sit with their family at home, stomachs full from a big feast they ate together at sunset. They laugh and talk together well past midnight and eagerly watch an epic drama produced for Ramadan on television. That night, shortly before 4 AM, they wake up simultaneously and see a man dressed in white standing at the foot of their bed. He reaches out his arms to them and smiles, motioning for them to come. The sisters immediately recognize him as Jesus.
Each year dedicated Muslims throughout Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and other parts of the world observe the Islamic month of Ramadan by abstaining from food, drink, sex, and smoking during daylight hours.
For the past two weeks committed Muslims have been fasting during the day as a means of seeking blessing and gaining more intimacy with God. Determined Muslims participate in this systematic fasting annually to purify their lives and gain favor with God. Besides fasting, Muslims focus on giving more to the poor and living better lives during Ramadan.
During this special month, Muslims' openness to spiritual things is greatly increased. There are even nights called "nights of power," when both Sunni and Shiite Muslims pray all night at their neighborhood mosques, eagerly expecting God to hear and respond to them.
Please fast and pray for Muslim families during Ramadan. Will you even choose your own night of power between now and the end of Septem-ber, and Cry Out to God for thousands of Muslims to encounter Christ and follow him in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq this month?
Cry Out to God for Muslims in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq during Ramadan:
- For thousands of Muslim communities to hear the Good News this month
- For countless Muslim families to get up and follow Jesus when they see him in visions and dreams this month
- For millions of Muslims to be satisfied with Living Water and the Bread of Life this Ramadan
