Syrian Refugees Encountering Jesus

 Winter rages across the Near East, with snow, rainstorms and freezing temperatures, but despite the cold weather outside, hearts are warmed as they turn to the truth of Jesus.  We feel encouraged as we continue to hear stories from our many partners working amongst refugees.  As another new year has started, many organizations and churches have risen up to meet the challenge of helping, loving, encouraging and sharing with these destitute ones:

• Winterization programs are going full steam ahead.
• Food and hygiene packs are being distributed.
• Refugee educational centers and schools continue with the daily task of teaching the next generation.
• Teams of young people are visiting the refugee areas, sharing with children and young people about Jesus, whether through film, drama, games, or just talking to those who are spiritually hungry or lonely.
• Various organizations are collaborating to reach out and do more than what has been done in the past.
• And more groups/teams of believers are coming alongside these schools and distribution hubs to start Bible Studies with those hungry for the truth!
  
  

We are seeing people come, not just to give once-off help and encouragement, but to help in the transformation of a nation in turmoil.  But the work is not done, it is a continual, daily serving, giving and loving, so please continue to pray with us:

• For the presence of Christ to flood these homes, tents, distribution areas, schools and groups. 
• For Jesus to become real and for refugees to discover Immanuel - God is with us!
• For all the different organizations, churches and groups as they selflessly continue this work.
• Pray that God will continue to provide in all the needs, whether financially, physically, emotionally or spiritually.
• And for all of us to grow in wisdom on how to collaboratively, as one body of Christ, respond to the call for help in this critical time!
